Blue, a Bullmastiff mix owned by Stacey Smith of Mims was chosen “King of Mardi Gras Paws in the Park” and his “Queen” was Roxie, a Pug owned by Babette Wilkins of Merritt Island at the Central Brevard Humane Society’s 4th Annual Mardi Gras Paws in the Park held on Sunday, February 28th, at Riverfront Park in Cocoa Village.

Other awards presented were “Best Pet/Owner Look-a-Like” went to PeeWee, a Yorkie owned by Kat Starr of Cocoa; “Best Costume” was presented to Mealing, a Sphynx cat owned by Diana Benton of Titusville; and “Best Pet Trick” was awarded to Lilly Grace, a Cockapoo owned by Bridget Goodwin of Rockledge.    All proceeds from this event will go towards the care of the abandoned and abused animals at the shelter.

The judges of this year’s event were Dave Poore with WSBH 98.5FM The Beach, Greg Pallone with Central Florida News 13 and his wife Katie; Jake Williams, Jr., Councilman of District 2; and Dr. Frank and Cheryl Venzara’, 2010 King & Queen of Space Coast Mardi Gras.
